RAWAN EL MOGHRABI

MSc Student;
Department of Computer Science, Western University

Rawan is a Master’s student in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Western Ontario, specializing in Artificial Intelligence. She completed her undergraduate degree in Software Engineering with a minor in Creative Writing, where she developed both technical expertise and a passion for interdisciplinary thinking. After participating in undergraduate research, she developed a strong interest in exploring the ethical and cultural dimensions of AI.

Rawan’s current research, supervised by Dr. Mark Daley, focuses on AI safety and alignment. She is particularly interested in creating AI systems that are not only technically robust but also culturally aware, ethically grounded, and capable of navigating diverse societal contexts. These systems aim to bridge gaps between technical functionality and human values, ensuring they are adaptable and respectful across different cultures and communities. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading and playing the violin.
