Quantum and Geometric Possibility

A book symposium celebrating recent books by Gordon Belot and Laura Ruetsche.

On Saturday, September 15, the Rotman Institute will host Drs. Belot and Ruetsche (both of University of Michigan) for discussion and commentaries on their books by fellow philosophers of physics.

Ruetsche’s book, Interpreting Quantum Theories, and Belot’s book, Geometric Possibility, were released simultaneously in 2011, and will shape philosophy of physics in the years ahead. Ranging from discussion of space and time, laws of nature, modal notions, general issues in ontology, to quantum mechanics of infinite-dimensional systems, the symposium should prove highly engaging for philosophers of physics.

Scheduled commentators include Don Howard (Notre Dame), Hans Halvorson (Princeton), Nick Huggett (University of Illinois), Carolyn Brighouse (Occidental College), Doreen Fraser (University of Waterloo), and Erik Curiel (Western University).
